“I bought mine to replace a far more powerful laptop which died. I chiefly wanted to be able to surf the web via wireless connection, and be able to work on presentations and documents on the move. I opted for the 8GB Linux version “just to give it a try” on the grounds that I could upgrade to Windows if I didn’t like it. In fact, the installed Linux OS and software is very good, and runs much faster than the Windows machines. I am a complete newbie to Linux, but even so I got up and running with barely a glance at the manual…”

“Lovely looking netbook, quality build and looking at the specs and times everything seems OK. I bought two for my daughters at Christmas and they loved them………Until that was they went on messenger and it had a protocol issue and wouldn’t work. I went on Acer’s site which is completely useless as is all the info that comes with the ‘one’…”

“…The design of the Acer Aspire One is very sleek with softly rounded edges and a smooth glossy surface that is comfortable to hold when closed. The look is fairly basic, but it does have a few chrome accents here and there which add a bit of spice into the look of the netbook. Glossy plastic is found on the top of the screen cover, as well as around the entire LCD. At times the reflective boarder does get on your nerves if you are in a brightly lit room with many sources of glare. The keyboard is spacious as far as netbooks go, since the Aspire One is a 9″ netbook inside the body of a 10″ model. You have the slight disadvantage of having huge screen borders, but you get some much needed keyboard real estate. The touchpad design is slightly unique compared to other netbooks and notebooks in general, with the buttons on each side…”
